My students make me laugh.
Not at them, with them...okay, sometimes at them.
They have funny little games and names for things and aims in life.
The popular lunchtime activity at the moment for the Year 8 boys is collecting pockets. This involves tearing the pocket off your opponents shirt whilst running around the oval and tackling them to the ground. This game is loosely linked to Rugby, but with their own original twist. It reminds me of scalp collectors in conflict, especially when the roughest of them all celebrates and proudly displays the 3 pockets he scored at lunchtime, pulling them excitedly out of his pocket. Meanwhile, the poor victim clutches his heart where his pocket once was...fearing the wrath of his mother who awaits for uniform inspection at home.
To be continued...
Bye for now,
