As the end of the school year begins to creep up on us, I have some deliberating to do...
This deliberation stems from my desire/need to leave my current principal behind. She's not someone that I am willing to work for any longer!
At this stage, my options appear to be:
Option #1 Advertised position at MSC
Pros: Secondary, potentially with KR as a colleague, good principal (by reputation), local, close to home but not too close, close to Frankston hospital when I'm pregnant in a few years (ok, stretching the pros here a bit...)
Cons: One really big one... 12 month contract. Which means giving up ongoing AGAIN! and potentially putting back our baby making plans for who knows how long? Maybe this isn't so bad- D(x) and I can both sort out our careers and then breed... :)
Option #2 Wait for something else that is local and ongoing
Pros: Ongoing position, don't have to give that up
Cons: The unknown. What if there is nothing good? What if there is nothing ongoing?
Option #3- Makes me want to vomit but...
I could stay where I am for now until something else comes up.
Pros: Holiday pay while we are O/S this Christmas, keep ongoing, colleagues, know the school, close to home.
Cons: PRINCIPAL (spew, spew!), PT (annoying), grumpy business manager, not people I would like to deal with when we want to have a baby, still in primary teaching. What year would I teach? Probably 5? Which is good if I want to get back to Secondary eventually.
So, I can't flip a coin because there aren't three sides to a coin. I could do 'eeny meeny'. That gives me Option #2. Whilst it's a bit more of a risk, it is only Term 3 and I do feel very employable given my extensive experience with inquiry learning and I'll be in my 6th year by then. Ok, Option #2 it is... for now. So, unless SB says it's a go for ongoing at MSC (Option #1), I'll stick with Option #2 and keep an eye on the market...
Now I can stop thinking about all of this... thanks blog!
